Iguanas are good BBQ'd. I have no idea about the other two types of lizards, iguana is quite tasty.

Nope, never saw the critter again, nor any others. I am thinking maybe it was someone's pet that escaped, or someone moved and turned it loose. I really don't want to meet up with it again!

Today I nearly ran over a large lizard on N Beach Rd on Manasota Key. I thought it was a pile of leaves. It had some kind of hood that popped up as I swerved to avoid it.

What about the iguana?
A couple weeks ago when I was mowing a guy was walking past on the sidewalk and said that a neighbor had called him to see the iguana that was hiding under a car on my street (probably mine!) but I never saw anything and neither did he. I live in a waterfront neighborhood, have for 4 years and never saw any before. I am concerned since I'm not sure it actually WAS an inguana and not a monitor lizard or something. I just hope he is a lone specimen and that they haven't started invading my neighborhood like they have further south in Florida! Have any of you seen any in your yards?
