Call the cancellation department when your contract expires. I have to go through this every time but I figure if I need to babysit them I am going to have my bill lowered. I usually have a 10-20 credit applied to my monthly bill.

Default FiOS rates are going up every other year

Verion FiOS monopolize the market in some areas where there are no more any competitors to them. And their rates are keep going $20/mo up every other year.

FiOS triple play is a joke if you break it into the service that you want only (Internet + TV) its also the same price or higher.

So Frontier is one of your options for internet service, but Verizon is not.

If you need a landline, seriously consider getting Google Voice and an Obihai 202 or Obihai 200. The Google Voice service is free, with nationwide calling and lots of features, also free! You might need to pay about $15 to $20 a year for the "911" location services. The Obihai boxes are about $30 to $70, one time cost. The quality of Google Voice is supposed to be excellent. Two of my brother in laws had Magic Jack. The quality of Magic Jack is very poor. There are many YouTube videos that will show you how to setup Google Voice as your replacement landline service.

You can stop paying for your cable DVR service by replacing the DVR service with SageTV. The software is free, but you will need to buy the computer hardware and associated electronics. After that, there is no DVR monthly fee. The cable DVR is very primitive compared to SageTV! Once you use SageTV, you'll never want to downgrade to the cable DVR service again!

No way out of the Internet costs. You need Internet service for a voice over IP service like the Google Voice / Obihai combination. You can setup SageTV with just free over the air TV. We tried cutting cable, and actually it didn't save any money at all because we made far more money on stock trades from the financial information we learned by watching the financial shows on cable. A few good stock trades pays for years of the cable TV service. Plus, we absolutely could not stand the totally biased fake news on the over the air network mainstream media.
