We are both 44 years of age/ 2 girls 12 & 18/seeking information on Venice highschool/sports/volleyball & recommendations on buying into a local business. Also we have college considerations since we must establish residency & pay out of state costs for 2013 ?

Sarasota County Schools is doing a complete rebuild of Venice High School. To see more information about sports and the rebuild visit the Venice High School athletics web site at

Venice does have a lot of retirees but there are several neighborhoods with kids as well. Stoneybrook at Venice has a lot of activities for kids right within the community itself.

As far as colleges, there is a State College of Florida satellite site in Venice. But most of the other nearby colleges are right in Sarasota, just depending on what program your daughter may be intersted in.
