I posted a more general thread asking for info on Sarasota schools and perhaps I was too vague. Since I can't change my title thread, I had to start a new thread.

I've checked Greatschools and the school websites. I've googled, and found fantastic info about some schools and nothing about others. I feel like I need to hear from parents at these particular schools, or from people whose friends/family have children enrolled in these schools.

My kids are currently enrolled in a private school with no letter grades (until middle school). They are doing well in some subjects and require resource help in others (no official special ed diagnosis or IEP, but they do receive pull-out instruction in one subject each).

I am looking for a school system that will provide a well-balanced education (arts, PE, language, extra-curricular), as well as enrichment and/or resource instruction as needed. If one of my kids excels in reading but is failing math, I need a school that will meet my child at his or her level in both subjects. If my child suddenly starts failing in science, I need a school where the teachers will say "Hey this is a problem, what can we do to solve this? Can I provide extra help in some way?"

I need to have this sort of instruction for elementary, middle, and high school. They have it now in our current school (not in Florida) but that may change soon, and I am strongly considering moving to Sarasota should we need to leave our school (and for other reasons that don't apply to this immediate topic).

I would appreciate direct and frank input on:

Phillippi Shores Elementary

Gulf Gate Elementary

Sarasota Middle School

Brookside Middle School

Sarasota High School

Riverview High School

Any other schools that would meet my criteria. Also, if there is another website or forum where this topic would reach a broader audience of Sarasota parents, please direct me there!!! Thank you!!!

Go to each of the schools web sites and read about them and what programs they have to offer. Contact the Parent Teacher Organizations and ask questions of parents who have kids there. Contact the Guidance Counselor and/or the Principal at the schools and ask questions. Direct contact with each of the schools is a good source of information and they can help answer your questions.
