Let me clear up my comments. My comments were not meant to read that illegal aliens cause a lot of crime, I have no idea whether or not they do. There are a lot of illegal aliens in South Florida, there are also horrible drivers in South Florida.

And Hispanics are far from being the only illegal aliens, they are only a small part.

Just by that statement alone you have absolutely no idea what you are in for. Weston and Davie are not culinary destinations unless you are a big fan of Chilis and Outback Steakhouse (of which there is nothing wrong with). You just have zero clue about Weston and Davie.

Good luck over there but if you hate it here, you are in big trouble. Don't get me wrong I LOVE Fort Lauderdale but you just need to understand what you are in for.
1-Yeah, there are ghettos here too.
2A-Of course that you would not have many restaurants in a suburb, and even then the food is better than Bradenton's.
2B-You have everything from decent Chinese, good pizza, Cuban food, German food, Mexican, Greek, in Fort Lauderdale, let alone Miami. Seriously, do we have Argentinian Food?

Can anyone else weigh in on why crime would be lower there and education better than in Sarasota?
Please excuse me for bumping my own questions, but I think factors that relate to good or poor quality schools and factors that cause crime to be high or low are of interest to many. Why is one area better than another?

In this age of political correctness, it may be hard to discuss without offending someone... Republicans/Democrats, old/young, rich/poor, native born/immigrant. But these days it is pretty hard to say anything without someone getting upset. "Brown bag" lunch is this weeks offensive term discussed on tv.

But there are a lot of smart people on this forum. Surely someone can explain the factors related to quality education and low crime in a way that doesn't wig too many people out.

isles 20 - what is the purpose of your post? do you live in SWF and do you like it here? And schools in NY really stink and the crime is horrible - taxes and liberals in a big cesspool - is that where you are from?

Quite honestly, I think it is some sort of requirement somewhere that once every ___ days someone posts on here in the guise of being helpful when really all they're doing is slagging the area and the people.

I just let it slide off as well as possible.

The purpose was to state my experiences here.
I live in Bradenton and dislike it. Sarasota is somewhat better, but not my cup of tea.
What the F**k are you talking about? NY is arguably the safest major city in the country, and the schools are the third best in the country. Yes, there are high taxes, but you get what you pay for. And liberals are a good thing. New Yorker in Florida and proud.

I think your thread title of "greater Sarasota area" is a bit of an over generalization. It would be like if I wrote about the greater Los Angeles metro area which is 100 miles east to west and more north to south and spoke if the things that are true for my area apply to the experiences of the other 16 million people who live here.

The diversity of the different geographic areas of the greater Sarasota area partially explains our wildly differing views on the quality and variety of restaurants and entertainment. Sarasota is my cup of tea.

So you can't say anything negative?
