We will be vacationing a couple days and Siesta Key next week we would like to get a nice seafood restaurant on the water for lunch not too expensive any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Chart House is one of my favorites. It's $$$ out of $$$$, though, not terribly expensive but not cheap either. (

Another option would be Anna Maria Oyster Bar, but it isnt on the water but it is $$ out of $$$$. (

If you are looking exclusively on SK, Ophelias & Turtles are really the only restaurants on the water. SK village is inner island but has some good restaurants such as SKOB, the Hub & the Cottage.

Just so you are not disappointed, there is no true Gulf-front dining in Sarasota for the most part. I think Sharky's is, but I have never been. I suppose some of the Longboat Key fine dining places are, but, for example, I brought a party of six for a meal at The Chart House, and every single person in our party was disappointed with everything from the the snotty 18 yr old hostess to the rubbery scallops. Sarasota is not an epicurian's dream.

I couldn't agree more. We have found you get better food for your money at the big chain restaurants. The Red Lobster south of Stickney Point Rd is fantastic. I only wish they would get a Texas Roadhouse.

For REALLY good seafood, the best place HANDS DOWN is Barnacle Bill's downtown. Supremely fresh and delicious, and they have some great deals.

Ophelia's is over priced and not that good in my opinion. It is not on the gulf, there is water of some sort running behind it. The building is old and run down and badly in need of renovation. Sharkys in venice is right on the gulf and is a touristy place but it is fun and the food is ok.

The "some sort of water running behind it" would be Little Sarasota Bay. It's really not my favorite place either but the OP simply asked about waterfront restaurants. Although I have had a decent meal there. If you think Ophelias is old & run down, then you would be shocked at Turtles. Some of the best restaurants on the key that I would recommend based on the food alone(regardless of location) are in the village.If you want to head south a bit, yes, Sharkys is direct gulf front. You could also check out Pop's & Pelican Alley by the Casey Key south bridge. Not pricey, "old Florida & laid back. Both are on the intercoastal waterway.
