I'm looking to buy either a two bedroom condo with a garage or a small townhouse with a garage. I will be commuting to work out-of-state and most of the time will utilize PIE (St Pete).

I'm a single male in my late thirties and want to be as close to the beach as possible. Obviously, I'm not interested in being in or near a retirement community.

I'm sure price will be a limiting factor and I realize I'll have to compromise but I'm trying to stay under $150K. I know the Tampa Bay forum is more local to PIE but I won't have to drive to the airport more than twice a month so being closer to Sarasota isn't really an issue.

That being said, I'm interested in all suggestions that you think would meet my criteria between PIE and Sarasota.

TIA.

Tipsy

Hmmm....I would say Morning Glory, Whitfield Estates, Paver Park, and you might be able to pick up a place in Gulf Gate under $150K. That area would be worth a look. Whitfield Estates is kind of a neat little area as well. I'm a big fan of historical homes and they have some pretty cool ones in that area. My ex mother in law lives just across the street from the Whitfield area in Sapphire Shores and she has the most awesome home. They have lived there for nearly 50 years and really like it. The only drawback to that area is the airplanes flying over head to go to and from Sarasota/Bradenton Airport. I guess after a while you don't even notice it, at least that's what they tell me. I think Gypsychic might live in the Whitfield area, so maybe she can throw her opinions out there as well.

Sounds nice...but are you talking about single family homes?

I'm looking for a condo or townhome...something where the exterior will be maintained by the association. I travel for a living and don't want to have to maintain a yard, etc.

Ahh...I missed the keyword--townhome. OK, then that leads to other areas.

Then there's:

Stoneridge off Honore, they are pretty new and have a small 1 car garage.
Las Palmas off Honore, these are newer as well and have a 1 car garage
Ramblewood Acres, most were built in the last 70's and early 80's but the complex seems to be well kept.
Shadybrook Village-in Manatee county-just over the line. I was not at all impressed with the upkeep of their building and several that I went in in this complex had mold in them due to roof leaking.
Fairway Oaks-I've seen a few in here. It's an OK place but half of them back up to Fruitville Rd which can be very busy.
Beneva Ridge, off Beneva, most were built in the 70's and the complex is decent.

That's pretty much it in that price range.
