However, between Cortez & 53rd off 20th Street is a "drug zone". And the trailer park that you live in as well.
Curious as to why you say getting "in" would be a problem anywhere in Bradenton?

Three times the monthly payment, upfront?
Anyway, I've never seen any drugs around here, though it seems that for some reason a lot of people around here can't pay their rent on time. I guess they're too busy buying steaks and beer. I don't go for either of those.

Ladywithafan is right. Crime, Gang Activity in Bradenton is going up, up, up. AVOID Bradenton at all costs.
Sarasota is a nice town, just stay out of the Newtown area and you'll be great!!

If you have children, stay away, the schools are filled with illegals, drugs(yes, even in lakewood ranch). Some people like to think they are safe out east, but the crime is just hidden. Try driving on Cortez or Manatee avenue after 9pm and you see tons of drug deals. I am saving my money to flee Bradenton. The wages are unbearable. Over my years, I have lived in 8 states and have never seen anything this pathetic(and I lived in NYC). West Bradenton has gone downhill for many years and there are hardly any nice places to live unless you can afford 2000 per month.

Yes, West Bradenton has gone done, but I think that your overstepping it a little bit. If any drug deals are going on, it's more like after midnight along areas of Downtown Bradenton, 14th Street, and Cortez Rd.- 34th Street all the way down past the Cortez/U.S. 301 Connector. Gangs are starting to hit West Bradenton, hopefully that will stop soon. I would still AVOID Bradenton at all costs.

It is pretty standard to expect to pay first, last & security deposits when you rent. So many people take advantage of their landlord's property in Florida & either break the lease early, destroy carpeting/walls/paint and leave a mess when they move that I wouldn't expect not to pay up front.
I'll give you some tips on how to spot drugs in your trailer park/vicinity:
-too much traffic, either cars in & out and/or people in/out, i.e. quick visits
-Lights that never go out & shades that are always drawn
-people peeking out the windows in the middle of the night
-choreboy boxes in the garbage, always a suspicious item.
I could go on, but I think you get the idea....

there's not much traffic through here, but sometimes I go home on my 2 am lunch break...and I don't see any activity then either. WE keep out blinds closed ALL the time, because we don't care much for the neighbors....our biggest complaint is that they're DRUNK and LOUD. We've been in three different places in the park (they claimed they were turning the first one into an office, they didn't; the second one was going to be torn down, it's still there (and it was in the back of the park, away from others!); and now this one, where we found black mold.) We've fixed up ALL three places, because *I* don't want to live in a cruddy looking place. I don't care that I'm only renting, I want to make my place look decent!

I think that a gated community would be more ideal for a criminal to base his operations. Harder for the police to get in, or any other outsiders.

We moved to Bradenton 8 months ago, and I am very displeased with this town.
First of all we live in West Bradenton, near Palma Sola, this is a gorgeous area, go 5 miles east it is not so pretty. We are a fairly young couple (30's) and we made the mistake of moving into a retirement community!! But at the same time, if you are middle class and want to stay away from crime drugs etc, your only choice is West Bradenton or Lakewood Ranch which is gorgeous, but like someone stated above almost like the Stepford Wives community.
If you are older, and can afford West Bradenton then go for it. As for me and my family, we are moving!

considered moving to Sawgrass Cove, an apartment complex. But with my girlfriend's back, she'd need a first floor location.
