Cool The Wait Is Almost Over....

I can't wait to leave this crummy little and ugly, backwards little town once and for all in the not so far future. My daughter just graduated from Manatee High and now I just have to wait a few more months until she is 18 and by early or the middle or next year at the latest I'll be out of this over crowded and uncomfortable town.

Please! I don't want to discourage anyone here but since I know more than two thirds of the states of the USA I can tell you beyond any reasonable doubt that this is one of the ugliest places I have visited and live. There is no beauty..... natural at least, like the one that you find in places like Gatlinburg, TN, or Land over the lakes, KY. Actually the best park here cannot compare with the worst in any other state I have visited.

The heat is unbearable 9 months of the year and the traffic is slower than in the middle of Manhattan at 7:00 AM a Monday Morning. I'm serious! I don't know who handles those traffic lights but he/they are morons! It will be chaos in NYC if they unsuspectingly hire these brainless persons.

Hurricanes? We have been blessed but eventually the blessings will run out and since the construction is so mediocre no matter what anyone says you will see million dollar homes suffering the same predicament as the cheap ones because Florida's Homes are not well built. I can't imagine what will happen if another Andrew decides to touch land.

Have anyone wonder why homeowners pay in Florida 5 to 10 times more for insurance than in most states without hurricanes? Because they know that even the most solid ones are not built(even though they should)to withstand high winds over 90MPH! I couldn't believe it when the last one that enter through the south of North port with winds of only 85MPH destroyed many town in his path and went all the way through lakeland and did the same amount of damage. At only 85MPH!!! Unbelievable!!!

Being the granddaughter of a builder who was raise around building projects, homes that were built and family members whom are into real estate and own many homes I now first hand just by looking at a construction site if something is well built or not and believe me, here in Florida even the most expensive projects use a lot of short cuts to cut cost. Why is it that a million dollar home goes down with a 150MPH???

For those who love this ugly town I hope you never have to experience what I know it will happen if you have the misfortune of going through one of those hurricanes. I know by experience what they do or cannot do since I went through many of them never having to leave my home or being afraid it will be destroy. Yes! I am from the island of PR Where I live in a solid concrete home made with mix stones and steel bars inside the walls.

Homes which have a solid 3 to four feet underground concrete foundation built by my father and grandfather which I can be sure will not even go down with a 300MPH hurricane because they were well built, so that's why I know.

But for those who want to take a chance, just wait for the next one and when it happen come back here and tell me how did your home did with the storm.... that if... you are still alive I hope! I also hope everyone evacuates with anything above 75MPH....just in case.

This town is also too overprice for the quality(or lack)of life it offers. I will soon will be enjoying, God willing, 4 seasons in PA Which I also know from Pittsburg to Bethlehem or Maybe Tennessee.... I'm still not sure, but of what I am sure is that I want to get the Hell(literally!)out of here! Damn is sooo hot! You go out for a moment and you have to come back inside at once! Hell no! Actually, Hell.... yes... that's what it is!

I've lived here 10 years and I love it. It's cheaper to live here than Sarasota or Tampa and it is half way down the state which makes it nice when traveling around the state.
I saw one person was very negative about it but I am loving B-Town. That is the towns nick name.

So far in the10 years we haven't been hit with a hurricane but we do get our share of warnings.
That's the good part. They at least can warn us.

My kids are grown and never attended school here but I do know some people who's children have excelled here so that would be a plus.
As far as crime, theres crime everywhere. I don't think you can avoid it but it isn't terrible here.

Best of luck!!

If you have children, you can never let them out of your sight. I have lived in so many places, and this is far the worst!!! My family counts down everyday until we leave here. I do not think you can get "deals" in the real estate market-it is still over-priced. There are so many houses that were built in the 1980s that are still going for 400,000-WHAT IS THAT ABOUT? Sorry if I offend any body about Bradenton-but it has been my experience that there is a lot of crime, drugs, and a bad education system.
I find Crime really low in the Bradenton .. i think you should try living in Orlando and than we talk

Then let's talk! I lived in Orlando, born and raised just like Will Smith was born and raised in Philly, and I find crime to be surprising high for such a small town (or city.)

lol what can i say u kno .. u pay for what you get. If you live in a crappy part of bradenton b/c u don`t got cash to offer, than you don`t have a right to complain. Florida is all about the money and you can`t live in a nice place unless you show greens. The heat, on the other hand, is actually not that bad. You sweat n all but its not like you going to die.

Bingo.

For a town of +/- 53,000, the crime is way high, and you will see it continue to increase as we get closer to the holidays as the foreclosures continue, the joblessness increases, and the people get hungrier. I knew I should have taken the gun certification class offered over the weekend and bought a glock down in Palmetto at the gun show....

Exactly.

That's another thing that makes me mad, that Palmetto Gun Show. Who do you think is going to that gun show? Who do you think is going to learn how to use a gun, and is going to purchase a gun so they can use it "outside", and in Palmetto. The answer>>> CRIMINALS. Palmetto is full of them. I expect to see more crime in the upcoming weeks in Palmetto since that Gun Show was just this past weekend.

Well, you know, there were three murders over the weekend...now we're up to 8 since the year began.
