Heads up for anyone who appreciates good California style tacos. Cali Tacos To Go just opened a new place on Bee Ridge just west of Tuttle. The original is in Tampa and has been featured on The Food Networks' Diners, Drive-ins and Dives show. They are said to be influenced pretty directly by Roberto's in San Diego. Tacos are topped with thinly sliced cabbage, cilantro and onion, giving everything that fresh and healthy Cali flair. I give them high scores for their fish tacos. The crunchy tempura battered grouper with the crunchy slaw work well together. Forget medium and mild and go straight for the hot sauce. The marinated pork burritos are outstanding as well. Great prices and friendly service. They are obviously very new with staff being trained and limited hours but still very acceptable experience. If you've been looking for a good taco joint in Sarasota put this on your list of places to try.

Duly noted, and thank you. Sounds like a place that needs a good patronizing!

I lived 2 miles from Roberto's in San Diego. It was by far the best of the authentic taco places (Filaberto's, Alberto's, Juanita's).

Hubby's daughter moved to San Francisco after college. When she would come to visit, the first stop between the airport and our house was Roberto's for an order of rolled tacos covered with guacamole. They were to die for.

I admit I am intrigued.

Will get over there asap.

I mean today.

What time is it?

Ok, on my way.

Are you sure it is modeled after Robertos? Roberto's is authentic mexican.

Cabbage and healthy sounds more like Rubio's or Baja Fresh. Rubio's is famous for the fish taco.

No, I'm not certain. I read that in an article. I've never eaten at Roberto's.

Rubio's... Roberto's ... Baja Fresh... I miss them all, so it will be a treat to check this place out! If it tastes like any of them, I will be a happy camper!
