LexusRX, I know they eliminated those memberships but if one doesn't ask, one doesn't get! I was only suggesting that it wouldn't hurt to ask for an exception if one of those was better for you. They'd probably say no but who knows?

Have you looked at The Founders Club? I believe new construction can begin from the upper 700s and they offer an equity golf membership that requires a $25K one time contribution and an dues are $1025/month. Members pay cart fee only all year round and just go play--no tee times. I'm sure there are other fees and minimums but I've heard the golf course is exceptional. The drive to the development isn't ideal but once you enter, none of that matters and the location is pretty convenient to everything Sarasota offers.

I just received an email from Ashton Woods. They have lowered their prices on four inventory homes in Rosedale by about 4-10%.

Just a quick update - we played Rosedale today and have to say they are insane to think they can charge $9,000 to "join" what is really just in our opinion a slightly better than average public course. Yes, the course is tight, the greens are smallish, but it's not in great shape - just OK at best (lots of bad spots) and played kind of slow - it had a very "public course" vibe to it as well... not like a Muni - but just public.

We purchased a resale in Rosedale about 2 years ago. Located ourselves well inside the community so no road noise, only some occasional sounds from LWR high school activities.
We joined the club at first, but dropped the membership this year since we didn't think it a good value. FYI...only new construction is subject to the mandatory social membership.
Husband has enjoyed playing golf here and at other courses! Good luck with your search!
