Darling, let me tell you something about "mistakes" when they appear in conjunction with real estate & vacation rentals ~ if it's a mistake & the guest signs an agreement that says "Pacific Ocean" ~ survey says, they will expect to see the Pacific Ocean, typo or not ~ that's what it states in agreement. Anytime, there have been changes to rental agreements ~ I have to honor the original agreement whether it contains a mistake or has been updated after the guest signs. The someone who doesn't live here full time & claimed to be the owner isn't on my owner list ~ go figure ~ and no, owner lists are kept private.

If you, as a realtor, mistakenly typed in "close to the Pacific Ocean" instead of "close to the Gulf of Mexico" on a contract to close a sale, I'm sure you realize that mistake could cause your clients to wonder WTF (i.e. no attention to detail, ignorant of area, etc...)

When you say scam I assume some sort of intent to mislead or profit such as there is no apartment to rent, there is no water view, etc. Did the lister knowingly list the Pacific Ocean versus the Gulf to profit more? I'm assuming not and it's just a terrible and potentially costly mistake.

And after seeing that Red Bull as to pay out a class action suit because it can't give you wings I'm sure you can sue in this case too.

Is it a scam, or is it stupidity? These days, who can tell? Thank you, public school system.

You? Higher standard? No way.

What's this "plagiarism action" you speak of winning against another member of these boards? You took someone to court and won? I doubt that very much!

Claiming to be an owner and not being an owner….sounds like fraud to me.

It's a common scam on Craigslist to take a legit rental or even property for sale listing and modify it slightly, using some or all of the posted photos (or even mixing photos from a couple of legit listings) and change the contact information, post the dummy ad and get an "up front" deposit or even down payment from an unsuspecting person. Happens all the time, and not just in Florida by any means.

I caught one here in Hillsborough County Craigslist and I was familiar with the property, so I contacted the realtor who actually had the listing for sale (the scammer had it up as a rental). He was most appreciative.

I took them before their local real estate board and won. It's now public record.

Thanks to that person, that is why I am here, and I'm seeing all kinds of misinformation and copying/pasting.
