Weather is supposed to be spectacular for the weekend, so why not get out and enjoy some of the events around the Bradenton, Sarasota and Venice area?


Friday

Goblin Gathering -- GT Bray Park in Bradenton, 5502 33rd Ave Dr W. 6:30 - 9:30 pm. Great family event with hay rides, hay maze, costume contest, bounce house, etc.

Live from Downtown Sarasota It's Friday Night -- Towles Court area, 6 - 9 pm. Local performers.

Lyle Lovett performs at the Van Wezel, tickets still available. $37.10 to $69.20, call 953-3368.

Taste of St. Armands -- 5:30 to 8:30 pm. More than 15 local restaurants provide food for event, tickets $40, to benefit the All Faiths Food Bank.


Friday - Sunday

Sun Fiesta -- Venice, Centennial Park, free admission. Lots of things going on, including bed races Saturday 9 am, parade Saturday 10 am. Arts & crafts, live music, etc.

Ringling International Arts Festival -- 100 performers of the arts (dance, jazz, music and more). For times/ticket info go to The Ringling


Friday - Saturday

Anna Maria Island Bayfest -- Friday 5 to 10 pm, Saturday 10 am - 10 pm. Saturday - classic car show (I think it's 10 am - 3 pm), kids fitness zone, fine arts/ jewelry/ crafts. Pine Ave.

Frightmares Haunted House (also runs next 2 weekends) -- 7:30 - 11:30 pm. Tickets $16. Not suggested for children (or me, I would have nightmares for weeks....). 2 extreme haunted houses. Sarasota County Fairgrounds on Ringling.


Saturday


Dog Show -- 6 to 9 pm, Sarasota Municipal Auditorium. Not your standard dog show. Events include best dressed dog, best hair, best dog trick,etc.

Twilight 5K Ghost Run/Walk in downtown Bradenton, old Main Street. Kids run at 6 pm, adults at 7 pm.

Candlelight Tour of the Gamble Mansion, Ellenton -- starts 7 pm. $6 everyone except 5 & under. Family friendly event, treats for the children.

Sarasota Farmers Market -- downtown Sarasota every Saturday, 7 am to 1 pm.


Saturday - Sunday


Fruitville Grove Pumpkin Fest -- 10 am to 5 pm, free admission & parking. Lots of family friendly events such as hay rides, costume contest, petting zoo. 7410 Fruitville - east of I75.

Hunsader Farms Pumpkin Festival -- 9 to 5 each day, $8 adults, 12 & under free, $5 parking. Over 100 vendors, lots of family friendly events such as hay rides, petting zoo, pony rides, etc. CR675 east of I75, between SR70 and SR64 in Manatee county.

Hungarian Festival -- Robarts Arena at the Sarasota County fairgrounds. Music, dance, food, shows, etc. $10/adults, 12 & under get in free. For info: 320-8253


Sunday


Drum Circle -- just before sunset each Sunday, Siesta Key beach, free.




This event is outside of our immediate area, in Lakeland. I am mentioning it because there are a number of people who frequent this forum that are into collector cars. One of the largest car shows in FL is taking place this weekend, at Mirror Lake Park in downtown Lakeland. Many of the streets east of the park are blocked off to traffic and turned into a huge classic car show. Everything from early 1900's and up. Well worth the hour drive.

Where did you get that pic? It is amazing pic of both. Julia left Danny. Wonder if she is fantasizing about patching it up with Lyle? Who would expect to stumble across A list stars in Sarasota.
