Looking at a house in North Port area (Tropicana Blvd) but have been told there is no High Speed Internet available.

Are there any known plans to bring it or any options that are not too expensive?

I've got a pre teen that lives on line....

Thanks,
Calvin

If it's in North Port, I'm assuming you mean Tropicare (out in NP Estates)? Basically the options around here are Comcast, Verizon and Centurylink. There may be a few other smaller providers. If I were you, I'd just call the various providers and ask if they service your address. They usually give discounts for multiple services--phone, fax, internet, TV, cell.

If Fios from VZ is where you are I think they have a good price plan. I get for TV, Phone, and internet contract 3 years.

I may have either 59.00 locked in 3 years however there are the add on. I got another offer 49.00 year one 59.00 year 2 and 69 year 3. that is the tv phone internet.

Comcast and CenturyLink are both available I think, but the speeds are so slow you might want to look into other options. You could consider satellite, though the speeds you can get with satellite really vary. Some satellite connections aren't even fast enough to stream video, but in that area I think you can get at least 5 Mbps, which should be plenty for streaming and online games etc. for your child.

You can do a zip code search on www.bestsatelliteinternet.com that can tell you for sure which providers are in that area and what speeds they offer. But make sure you pay attention to data caps, because a lot of companies (broadband included) charge you if you go over, which could be an issue if your child uses it constantly.

When looking to purchase a lot in North Port, first be concerned if the lot has or can get electric service.

Off Tropicaire I purchased a home with electric & phone. We had to go with satellite internet (exceed). I didn't find any option better and not aware of any new options.
