Got a question: In SWF, what are the best non-medicare plans available, concerning price, coverage, deductibles, etc. What do you carry, and why?

I'm also happy with BCBS. I carry a very high deductible (10k/year) to reduce my monthly payments. In other words, I self insure for 10k a year. But BCBS gives me great rates on generic prescriptions, negotiated reduced rates for procedures like MRI's, and of course with the ACA, they fully cover my yearly exam (please repub wingnuts, don't reply to that).

I'm pretty sure that's not a medicare plan. It's the family plan I am on.

Oops, sorry about that, old boy. Well, not so old boy. How's it working for you so far? And what's the premium, if I may ask.?

Sarasota Memorial does not accept Florida Blue Select if that matters to you.

Thanks for this tip as I generally don't look up hospitals, just whether my doctors are on the list. Hospitalization is always a possibility though.

I'm not sure if "Florida Blue Select" is the same as my 1477a plan (BCBS), but if it is, SMH just paid the insurance bill for having a baby ($4500) with no problems.

kiggy -- The family plan is about $450 a month for us (family of 3). Co-pays are cheap at the pharmacy and at the doctors.
