I am impressed now to see how long this actually lasts and even increasing in concentration

Red Tide Status (January 29, 2016)
A bloom of Karenia brevis, the Florida red tide organism, persists along Pinellas, Hillsborough, Manatee, Sarasota, Charlotte, Lee, and northern Collier counties in Southwest Florida. Karenia brevis was detected in low to high concentrations in 9 samples collected in and alongshore of Pinellas County; background to medium concentrations in 22 samples collected inshore of Hillsborough County; low to medium concentrations in 18 samples collected in, along, and offshore of Manatee County; background to high concentrations in 35 samples collected in, along, and offshores of Sarasota County; very low to medium concentrations in 10 samples collected in, along, and offshore of Charlotte County; background to high concentrations in 31 samples collected in, along, and offshore of Lee County; and very low to medium concentrations in 2 samples collected offshore of northern Collier County.
Respiratory irritation continues to be reported in several bloom areas of Southwest Florida. Forecasts by the USF-FWC Collaboration for Prediction of Red Tides show a slight southern movement of bloom waters in Southwest Florida over the next 3 days.
Background concentrations of K. brevis were also observed in one sample collected offshore of Okaloosa County in Northwest Florida. Along the Gulf Coast, samples were not collected in the past week from Walton, Gulf, Franklin, Wakulla, Jefferson, Taylor, or Citrus counties.

I'm not *impressed*! I had always thought the bloom was a warm water phenomenon... that's what I get for thinkin'.

We were down on Englewood beach yesterday, the red tide definitely irritated our lungs with the breeze blowing in from the Gulf.

We were on Sanabel this weekend visiting friends and they had a lot of dead fish in the canals around the marina. So sad to see.

*Sigh*...still going strong...typically I don't cough until on my way back to the parking lot could be exertion of course

Red Tide - Statewide Status

Karenia brevis was detected in very low to medium concentrations in 5 samples collected in and alongshore of Pinellas County; very low to high concentrations in 59 samples collected in, along, and offshore of Manatee, Sarasota, Charlotte, and Lee counties; and background to medium concentrations in 4 samples collected alongshore of Collier County. Two samples collected offshore of Monroe County also contained background concentrations of K. brevis.
Additional samples collected throughout Florida over the past week did not contain K. brevis.
Respiratory irritation continues to be reported in several bloom areas of Southwest Florida from Sarasota south to Englewood. Fish kills have also been reported along Siesta Key Beach, Longboat Key, and Captiva Island. Forecasts by the USF-FWC Collaboration for Prediction of Red Tides show net southern movement of surface and bottom waters in Southwest Florida over the next 3 days.

Midweek Red Tide Update (March 2, 2016)
A patchy bloom of Karenia brevis, the Florida red tide organism, persists in Southwest Florida between southern Collier County and Monroe County. Over the past week, K. brevis was observed at background concentrations in 2 samples collected inshore of Pinellas County and at background to very low or low concentrations in 3 samples collected inshore of Manatee County; 11 samples collected in and alongshore of Sarasota County; 3 samples collected in and alongshore of southern Collier County; and 4 samples collected offshore of the Florida Keys. Medium concentrations were observed in 4 samples collected along and offshore of northern Monroe County.
