We are seriously considering a move from the mid-atlantic to the central gulf coast for retirement. One thing I have seen is people discussing high car insurance rates. I think this is probably relative since rates vary so much throughout the country. Would it be too much to ask to have a few ball parks rates of insurance for two adults with two cars, very good credit and no accidents? Thanks so much.

yes. It's absurd to think anyone could give you that kind of information. If you currently have insurance, odds are your company works in Florida and they would be in a better position to help. If not, try AAA

Don't apologize, you were simply seeking information. It's difficult to give ballpark quotes without having more information than you'd want to provide here, knowing what vehicles you drive, deductibles you'd select. I'd suggest contacting a couple of the larger companies that do business in FL such as Geico, Progressive, State Farm, AAA (you don't have to be a member to have their insurance) and see what they say.

I just got a quote from GEICO (and I get a discount through my affiliation with Berkshire Hathaway) on our two cars. I was comparing the rate with the renewal I have through AAA. AAA gives a discount if you get both home and car insurance through them. Anyway, for my Nissan Rogue and Infiniti Q50, the rate from both companies was very close and the lower amount was $1572 for twelve months. I think my limits of liability are a bit higher than typical (or so the GEICO rep told me) so that probably has some impact on the pricing.

If anyone thinks that is extremely high, I'd appreciate hearing about your company. I don't have a problem with saving money!

I can tell you this, moving from NJ to FL and having great insurance in NJ I actually dropped $892 for the year with equal coverage.

Then again NJ is one of the higher priced states for insurance.
I went with The Hartford

I had a similar experience with Liberty Mutual. Was paying ~$4,000 for 2 cars in NJ. Now paying ~$1,600 for the same two cars and even improved the coverages a bit. NJ is mess when it comes to auto insurance

Yes, depends on too many factors - your age, the car, age of the car, county you live in, miles you drive daily, coverages, deductibles, credit score and probably a few others I'm forgetting. You need to get a quote from an agent.

Thanks to everyone who offered info. Felt a little absurd for asking at first. I have a feeling it won't be a big shock to us since we live in Maryland. As we get closer to a decision we'll talk with an agent.
