I can't speak to whats open in Venice, but if you're up for a spin to LBK Euphemia Haye does (or used to do) a spread for Xmas. I've never been for xmas, but a nice place, swanky.

The Sarasota Herald usually runs an article on their Ticket page about restaurants for Christmas a few days before the 25th.
Columbia restaurant on St. Armands Circle is usually open Christmas day, they offer a special dinner for Christmas at a set price.
Also usually open: Mattison's in Sarasota, Polo Grill & Bar in Lakewood Ranch, Michael's on East in downtown Sarasota.
You might check some of these restaurants websites for more info as reservations are typically required.
