Has anyone driven a commute from Palmetto to downtown Sarasota? I have an interview for a place in Sarasota this week and currently I am commuting from Palmetto to Tampa (miserable). However, I did briefly work in Sarasota (I had to take 75 for that drive) and it was an absolute nightmare. I have been wary of looking in Sarasota because of that but I am hoping maybe downtown Sarasota would be more bearable. Or am I just overly hopeful?

Season or no season, if you're traveling 41/Tamiami, it's going to take you 30-45 minutes. By I-75 could be same. Downtown SRQ is in the throes of epic development with what seems like high rises going up on every corner. Compared to your commute from Palmetto to TPA, it would probably feel like a breeze.

I live & work in the downtown area ~ DM me if you have questions!

I agree with above. Off season probably 30 minutes, and it depends on time of day and from where to where you are traveling. During season at least 45 minutes. Honestly, sometimes a commute like this is worse than going to Tampa. My husband commutes from the south end of Manatee County to downtown Tampa every day, and while it takes some time, traffic moves smoothly once he is out of the Manatee traffic and on the interstate. Also, downtown Sarasota has become a "cluster" as far as traffic goes, with all the construction, roadblocks and other ridiculousness.

Thank you for the insight! I actually wouldn't mind a 30 minute commute in general. Right now it's taking me at least 45 minutes to drive from Palmetto to the Channelside area of Tampa. I've been looking for another job for a while now and it's just difficult to find anything in Bradenton/north Sarasota that pays what I want and is also going to be less than a 45 minute commute.

IDK about a job that "pays" in the M/SRQ area ~ lol ~ $$$ in Tampa ~ just a lot of sand in Sarasota.
