I’m interested to know what Snowbirds, or other temporary visitors to the area, do about mail forwarding for their regular USPS mail, especially when they do not have a family member or neighbor to do this for them? I know the USPS does have a temporary mail forwarding option for up to 6 months duration + an additional 6 months, but can’t find anything about the cost, etc. Is anyone aware of other options?

We pay a premium to have all mail forwarded to our Florida address. It is somewhat costly, but it comes boxed once a week and is well worth it. Doing the regular forwarding was problematic. Some of the mail came and some didn't. This works best for us.

We choose USPS' free forwarding service throughout the year. They don't forward 100% (fliers, etc.) but that's ok with us. Be aware that banks and the government don't allow forwarding of their mail, so if a credit card or IRS correspondence is due to come to you while you're using mail forwarding, it will bounce back to them.

^ +1...
We have been doing the USPS free forwarding for the past 14 winter seasons, eg mid November to middle/late April.

Have never had a problem, other than the couple days of limbo here on our SW FL end.

I change mag subscriptions, and CC billing addresses, but anything we 'want' comes along fine in our experience.

We do the USPS free forwarding and never had problem. Mail does come obviously a little later, so bills come in a few days sometimes before they are due. My credit card bills and banks all forward to my address also. I never had to notify them and they still get forwarded. The only thing I don't seem to get forwarded is junk mail, which is fine by me.
