Two of my children attend Pine View in Osprey, which is a top rated school. The drive from the Sarasota area would probably get to be really tiring really soon. If I were you I'd look in the south Tampa area, closer to work. Like a few other people pointed out, the drive is going to be crazy if you have to do it everyday. I don't know to much about the Tampa schools though.

The Tampa/Sarasota communte would not work. Too much $$$. I'm sorry to tell you this, but... Tampa's a dump! Not very nice. Good luck though, maybe you'll find something!!

Here's my 2c!
Hi
We are about to move next month from NY. We have been down to the area many times over the past few years. I'd suggest Lakewood Ranch - planned community - it has a number of different areas. If you go to Welcome to Lakewood Ranch you can find out all about the communities. There are major deals to be had in property there at the moment and it is totally family orientated. New YMCA, new public schools, wide choice of private schools. Airport is 10 minutes away, which is necessary for us because my husband commutes to NY. Willis Elementary school (pulbic) gets great reviews. Our son is gifted so we did a lot of research about the schools in the area. Clean, tidy, quiet, spacious communities within the "ranch" that have adventure parks, pools, nature reserves, - everything is laid out for bike riding, walking, etc. It has a little Main St with shops, cafes, restaurants, movie theater, and a dinner theater is due to open soon.

mariabd,
Good luck on your move. We just bought in the Palmer Ranch area. We did visit the Lakewood Ranch area, and it is family oriented. Our kids are out of the house, so we opted to be a bit closer to the city.
I am sure you did your homework and made the right choice for your family.
Best wishes,

Rinaldi3,
If you're going to be working in Tampa, depending on what area of the city you're going to be in, you may want to consider Brandon or possibly New Tampa to make your commute more reasonable. Both area will have some good schools to offer, but I believe in general you would find Parrish to be a quiter area with a cleaner, neater, newer feel to it. I hope that is of some help.

WE have just returned from house hunting in the Sarasota area. We love LWR but are concerned with all the costs. Tara is beautiful but of course, does not offer as much as LWR. I've read ALOT about LWR but very little about Tara. Anyone want to give me the pros/cons of Tara ....addressing some of these items: builders, housing prices, CDD, insurance, HOA. Thanks.
