Are you comparing all of Sarasota County to North Port or the City of Sarasota to North Port?
I'm not attacking North Port. Just looking for some clarification.
I also read your previous post which compared North Ports ratio to cities like Miami, Orlando, etc. Do you have stats that compare North Port, to similar bedroom communities? For instance Parrish?

I was using the city of Sarasota-the website says, "Offender's City of Residence". Parrish doesn't have a recent estimated population on City-Data.
I actually had a ton more cities that I tried to post on that thread but when I got done and went to post it said that the time allotted for posting had run out and I lost all of the data. I didn't want to go back and do it all again. I'll go back and look some smaller cities up but it really shouldn't matter how large or small the city is since I'm doing it on a per person ratio.
I just picked a few cities at random from all over the state of Florida-none had a LOWER sexual offender rate per person than North Port. Like I said before, I won't dispute that the state of Florida as a whole has a higher sexual offender per person ratio than many other states. What you need to look into is each individual city and how many live in each city.
Another fact that many people don't know is that North Port is the second largest city in land area in the state of Florida. Not all of it is fully developed but it is a very large city.
Source: Population-City-Data
Sexual Offender count-Florida Department of Law Enforcement
North Port-Population 50,523-78 sexual offenders-one sexual offender per 648 people.
Key West-Population 23,262-66 sexual offenders-one sexual offender per 353 people.
Bradenton-Population 53,662-174 sexual offenders-one sexual offender per 308 people.
Ft Myers-Population 60,531-217 sexual offenders-one sexual offender every 279 people.
Lakeland-Population 90,207-385 sexual offenders-one sexual offender per 234 people.
Fort Pierce-Population 36,365-175 sexual offenders-one sexual offender per 208 people.
Sarasota-Population 52,942-284 sexual offenders-one sexual offender per 186 people.
Palatka-Population 11,005-66 sexual offenders-one sexual offender per 167 people.
Panama City-Population 36,807-225 sexual offenders-one sexual offender per every 164 people.
Marianna-Population 6,286-44 sexual offenders-one sexual offender per 143 people.
Sebring-Population 10,648-77 sexual offenders-one sexual offender per 138 people.
Bartow-Population 16,455-123 sexual offenders-one sexual offender per 135 people.
Perry-Population 6,804-52 sexual offenders-one sexual offender per 131 people.
Starke-Population 5,863-49 sexual offenders-one sexual offender per 120 people.
Arcadia-Population 7,084-103 sexual offenders-one sexual offender per every 69 people.
Brooksville-Population 7,609-130 sexual offenders-one sexual offender per 59 people. Yikes!!!
Okeechobee-Population 5,926-100 sexual offenders-one sexual offender per every 59 people. Yikes!!!

I just thought it would be interesting to know what the ratio is for bedroom communities in our area. A lot of people are interested, including myself, in towns like Parrish. It would be very helpful to have that stat handy for North Port, Englewood, Venice, Nokomis, Osprey, LWR, Ellenton and Parrish, so families can have more information to narrow down their choices. And people without children don't want to live in an area with those types of scum either.

Yes, I think that would be an interesting stat. I'm not able to come up with as recent population figure for Parrish, Englewood, Nokomis, Osprey, LWR, Ellenton, Port Charlotte or Punta Gorda. I'll list the sexual predators in each area but I don't know how many people are in each town. If someone can come up with a recent population I can figure it out. The most recent population stats I can find are 2000. That would not be too accurate.
Venice-Population-20,952-37 sexual offenders-one sexual offender for every 566 people.
We need to know the population of each city to figure out ratio:
Port Charlotte-94 sexual offenders
Punta Gorda-54 sexual offenders
Englewood-31 sexual offenders
Nokomis-23 sexual offenders-I just found something that states the current population is roughly 4,000-one sexual offender per every 174 people.
Ellenton-7 sexual offenders-I found that the population is roughly 3142-sexual predators are one in every 449.
Parrish-3 sexual offenders
Osprey-2 sexual offenders
Lakewood Ranch-1 sexual offender

"Venice-Population-20,952-37 sexual offenders-one sexual offender for every 566 people."
***If someone has the population for all Venice addresses, (South Venice, Venice Gardens, East Venice) that would be a more accurate figure to use, since the registry does not make that distinction. I would guess that would add about 30,000 people. ***
So a more correct ratio for Venice would be around 1 for every 1351.
"We need to know the population of each city to figure out ratio:
Port Charlotte-94 sexual offenders
Punta Gorda-54 sexual offenders
Englewood-31 sexual offenders 2007-17206 people = 1 for every 555 people.
Nokomis-23 sexual offenders-I just found something that states the current population is roughly 4,000-one sexual offender per every 174 people.
Ellenton-7 sexual offenders-I found that the population is roughly 3142-sexual predators are one in every 449.

Ellenton has a population of 4009.*** Making the ratio 1 for every 572 people. [/i] [/color]
Parrish-3 sexual offenders 2007- 8963 people = 1 offender for every 2988 people.
Osprey-2 sexual offenders - 2007 - 4914 people = 1 offender for every 2457 people.
Lakewood Ranch-1 sexual offender
I don't know what the population of LWR is since it seems to be unincorportated. Punta Gorda and Port Charlotte are cities to me, and not bedroom communities like North Port.
Nokomis is a shock. What a surprisingly bad statistic.
Seems like Englewood and Ellenton have comparable figures to North Port.
And Osprey, Venice, and Parrish are decidedly better areas when it comes to having fewer sexual predators.

Yes, that all looks pretty accurate to me. Where did you get the Englewood, Parrish and Osprey population? Off Sperlings? It sounds correct.
With the Venice thing, it lumps all Venice addresses into one category under Venice so I would guess my first figure of 1 sexual offender per 566 people would be correct. Anyone in South Venice, Venice East, Venice Gardens would still have a Venice address and therefore would be included in the 20,952 number.
So that leaves only Parrish and Osprey that have better/lower number of sexual offenders than North Port.
But if you are looking at a larger city 50,000+ people, I couldn't find any with a lower ratio of sexual offenders than North Port. For smaller cities Parrish and Osprey take the cake!

It might be interesting to know the median home price in these three areas. North Port is around $150,000(City-Data is off a bit on their figures). Osprey is around $500,000 and I don't have a clue on Parrish.
Carbondated, I know you have been researching this area maybe you could give a ballpark on median home prices for Parrish. City-Data says $275,000 but I don't know if this is correct. It sounds about right though.

Just looked at the City Data population for 2000.
City of Venice - 17,764
South Venice - 13,569 (census designated place)
Venice Gardens - 7,466 (census designated place)
Plantation Venice - 4,168 (census designated place)
Other Venice - ???
Venice Total (in 2000) = 42,967 (other Venice areas not included)
Venice has to have had a population growth since 2000, since they added places like Stoneybrook and all those other developments. So I will stick with my previous estimate that Venice address population is around 50,000. Besides if Venice's population was only 17-20,000, no one would experience those awful traffic nightmares heading down 41, lol.
The FDLE lumps all City of Venice, South Venice, Venice Gardens, East Venice, Plantation, etc. criminals into the 37 listed.
So I will stick to my assumption that Venice has around a 1 offender per 1351 people.
Even using old and incomplete 2000 population numbers (42,967) would have Venice at 1 offender per 1161.
I would venture to say if you are looking for an 45-50,000 population area, Venice has better numbers than North Port, Ellenton and Englewood.
SoFLGal, $275,000 in Parrish sounds about right. The median home price was $156,000 in 2000. You can get some bargains now in Parrish on resales, so maybe it's even lower than that figure. I'll check into it.

Update:
Just got the population for Lakewood Ranch: 10,372
LWR is the clear winner, in regards to small numbers of sexual predators. Looks like its a great community for families.
Top 4 Areas
LWR (one offender for 5186 people) or 1:5186
Parrish 1:2988
Osprey 1:2457
Venice 1:1161 (using 2000 pop.numbers)
Bottom 4 Areas
North Port 1:648
Ellenton 1:572
Englewood 1: 555
Nokomis 1:174

Go pull up any other neighborhood in Sarasota county (except maybe the million dollar neighborhoods). You'll find the same thing. There are many sexual predators IN Florida. As I said before, North Port has one of the LOWEST sexual predator ratio per person of any city in Florida. Much lower than the city of Sarasota and most other cities in Florida. Look for yourself here's the website
FDLE Florida Sexual Offenders and Predators

This is not pulled out of thin air.
Out of 8 nearby communities, North Port is in the bottom 4.
How can North Port possibly have one of the lowest sexual predator ratios per person of any city in Florida, if it isn't even one of the best in our area?
Lots of kid friendly neighborhoods better than North Port, and not million dollar neighborhoods either.
