My husband and I, along with 3 (ages 3 & under) are planning on relocating to the North Port area from Miami, FL. We are so over the congestion, loudness & the mess that is Miami. We desire a quiet and safe place to raise our children. Our friends have lived in Sarasota & Venice for 10 years now. We visit often and love the area. We are considering North port for the affordable housing. We will be visiting North Port in a month to get a better feel for it. I have done a lot of research of the area online & have read the forums here.

I wanted to get some feedback on preschools and day care. I wasn't able to find to much about that. What is the average weekly cost for full time or part time? Any recommendations on certain day cares/preschools?

Any input on the local elementary schools would be helpful for us too. I see that the school rating/grade varies between all of them.

My sons loved Cranberry Elementary and I have heard that Toledo Blade is a good school.
You need to buy a home that is in the area for a good school. They tell you that you have "school choice" but the good schools are filled up and do not even appear on the "school choice" list.

We were happy with the elementary schools in NoPo but when it was time for middle school we moved. I do not like the middle school or high schools in NoPo. I might be wrong but I am just going on what people told me.

South Venice is also an affordable area and your kids would go to Venice middle and high schools which are better -

Thanks Nancy. Thatís really good to know about the school choice list. There were some homes I considered outside the area that I like. Cranberry has really good ratings and is my preferred school for the area.
Do you have any suggestions for local day cares? My babies wonít start kindergarten for a few more years. And my 3 yr old was born after the September cut off so she still has 2 more years to wait.
