Will be moving to the area in the Summer. I have been looking at the differences house and I am very impressed by the architectural diversity in the area compared to boring blah Bay Area. I have seen a great mixture of mid centuries, new homes, cookie cutter homes, and those amazing custom million dollar homes, I can only dream about.

My budget is between 250 (if I want to do a remodel) to 450 for a home and I have seen a lot of very nice homes in that price range. But it has always been my dream to have a custom shipping container home for that modern industrial look. Has anyone seen any in the County or know of any reputable companies that design and build them? Doing my due diligence.... google search

This is a pipe dream, but if anyone has any thoughts or information on it, please let me know, at the least it will might be a fun topic to get some input around

Contact the County building dept. to find out if they are permitted. If they are permitted, in what residential zone and is a minimum square footage required. Almost all sub-divisions, especially those with a HOA, require a minimum A/C square footage area and a garage in the deed restrictions.
People are buying homes here because a 2x4 roof truss can span 32 feet. Why would they be interested in something where the living room is only 8' wide

^^^it not the only configuration that can be augmented to accommodate more width - it's called welding. Around here I would be surprised if they are allowed in a planned subdivision, perhaps on some acreage or where mobile homes are permitted, but by all means get the rulings in writing from all government officials!

There's a company that builds them. I was recently approached to inspect them for code compliance. I believe they advertise on Craigslist - Sarasota.
