You can always take the plung gradually....buy a place and rent it out for a few years until you retire and then you too can become a snowbird. Sounds like a pretty nice life to me! I am also in my forties and I find that each passing winter I am less and less tolerant of the cold. We could burn our wool socks like the woman libbers burned their bras....and move south!

The women libbers did burn their bras in the south! That's why I love it here! And, cuz it is so warm! And, that makes the beer seem really cold!

Deb, I've never worked with the people who manage this site but.... http://www.longboatrentals.com/ click on the # of bedrooms you would want under the Siesta Key tab. This will at least get you to see some descriptions for ideas.

Baloney. If there were any jobs that God forbid paid over $40,000 then maybe I could agree with you.

why thank you guys:}
the reason we have 2 places,is because we bought in a 55 community,we refinanced at the right time, and we have been busting our butts for the past 25-30 years to have someplace to go to when we retire.If you work hard,invest correctly,have a very savvy financial person(my DH) then yes you can do it.
anyone is free to speak up and tell me if im wrong or not, but we neither drink nor smoke, and that right there could save you a small fortune, we dont have a million credit cards, we are frugal with our money ,we dont buy what we dont need.
Ive had my say, so have at it if anyone wants to argue that!!!
