We have our yearly trip planned to Bradenton on 7/1
We have a condo with a beach across the street that has no parking, its usually very quiet
Our flights have no middle seats
I skip the counter at the car rental
We plan on picking up food - no dining at restaurants.
We can only go by the news - is it really bad in this area right now?

Manatee County currently has the highest infection rate in Florida, Trump/Pence have cancelled this week's rally in Sarasota, Bars were shut down at noon on Friday, and Anna Maria Island is going to mandatory face masks at 5 p.m. today. You can get all the latest news at mysuncoast.com.

Do you have a link to confirm that Manatee County has the highest infection rate in Florida? I have not been able to verify your claim.

Today's numbers showed FL with an overall 12% positive test rate and Manatee County had 10.7%. So Manatee is BELOW the state average.

Manatee county appears to have 2 "hot spot" zip codes. One of those includes a couple of elderly care facilities that have been responsible for a large percentage of the positive cases.

However, local governments are taking notice of the increasing numbers. From the Bradenton Herald:

Both Anna Maria’s order and Holmes Beach’s ordinance require the public to wear masks inside of buildings and public buildings. The rules apply to customers, as well as business owners and employees.

Anna Maria’s order does not apply to outside spaces, children under age 2 or office spaces where social distancing is possible. The order also does not apply to anyone who can prove they have an existing health condition that would make wearing masks detrimental to their health.

Anna Maria will charge $50 for anyone violating the emergency order. Holmes Beach has enacted a $250 fine for a first offense and $500 for any subsequent violations.

There have been no discussions yet in the island’s third city of Bradenton Beach.

I will put it like this: Sarasota County is currently a bit better off than Manatee County - and Manatee County is a bit better off than the overall state of Florida. This is all subject to change - and IMO nothing much in Florida is looking "good" right now. It's a widespread outbreak covering many of the counties in Florida.

As for nursing homes fueling the cases in Manatee County - that was the situation back in March and April - but absolutely it's NOT what's fueling this current outbreak. Now we have mostly general "community spread" with a much younger demographic. Back in March & April we mostly had "isolated" outbreaks in nursing homes.
