Donato's in Port Charlotte in the shopping center where Lowe's is. That restaurant is pretty good.

Yeah, I'll second that.
I had some Italian friends in town about a two months ago and I took them there. They seems to genuinely be impressed with everything.

Also, my co-workers told me that was about the best Italian food in the area.

I haven't tried that yet, but I heard it's good.

That'll be my next stop for Italian food.

I wish there was a good Portuguese restaurant down here. I miss that a lot.

Italian food in this area?

LOFL !

We make our own. Pizza? We make our own or have it flown in from "Rocko's" in Brooklyn.

While publix in port charlotte sells fresh mozzarella ( and I do appreciate it ) the quality is not very good. It's passable.

Asian food availability is worse.

Had a meeting at Luigi's on 41 a couple months ago. LOL, the tomato sauce could have had competition from Ketchup. None of the staff knew how to pronounce mozzarella, or manicotti, etc. Then there's a pizza place.......I better stop now.

I grew up in an area that had a large Italian influence in New Jersey. Bes friends were Italian. As an adult I lived in NYC for 5 years.

You gain nice weather in the winter here and a different lifestyle which up to a couple years ago was quite cheap in comparison to the northeast for example. You give up a lot of what you loved foodwise among other things in the northeast. If you aren't from the northeast you probably won't notice a thing

MrTudo, thanks for your input. By the way, I'm from New Jersey and have many Italian friends.
