Just got word that a Little Caesars is going into the plaza next to the new Walgreens at Price & Toledo Blade. They hope to be open by mid-October!

Cool, that's right by my house! Any word of when/if the new Target and/or movie theaters are coming in?

...No (in a word)! I know that the commercial realtor responsible for the site where the movie theatre/bowling alley would go (very near the same spot that Little Caesars is going) is working hard and has been in serious discussions with several possiblities in both arenas.
As for the Target, the reaction to commission not granting the project to move forward (or however you want to say it) at Sumter and Price was that the corporation (Target) was going to lay low for a while. That's been a common practice for them nation-wide through the down-turn. The folks developing Toledo Blade & Price were trying to entice them (Target) to their property, but Target balked... for now. I get the feeling that commission would rather see Target on Toledo Blade, and now that North Port has "officially" reached the 50,000+ mark, there just needs to be a positive economic quarter. I think then you'll see some movement from Target. North Port got some great regional press today for Little Salt Spring, though. http://www2.tbo.com/content/2008/jul/15/divers-seek-ancient-history-north-port-spring/ Cool! ![]() |

I think there is a pizza and wing place set to open up any time now across the street from there next to the dollar store in the Publix plaza.
By the way both the Chinese restaurant and Carvel ice cream seem to be doing very well. Every time I go in there they are busy...sometimes very busy. That whole Toledo Blade area is going to be really nice when it's finished. I can only imagine what it will look like a few years from now. Mikey |

I just found this website that tells about happenings in North Port. It's pretty interesting: North Port Life
I looked the website up and it said it was owned by Vista Line, Inc and the owner is Victor Vidal. It's a great website and he seems to have the inside scoop on many things going on in North Port. Does he work for the chamber or the city? Who is he? Where's he getting his info from? Just curious.... |
