Hello Everyone – My husband and I recently relocated from NY to New Tampa. I was able to get a job at USF while in NY so I moved down first. My husband applied for a transfer and the only opening was in Sarasota. The original plan was for us to buy a home in New Tampa but with his commute, plans have changed. Needless to say I have a great commute to work but he drives over an hour each way. We want to buy a house but can’t seem to find a central area where both our commutes are kind of equal. This weekend we drove down to Parrish and Ellenton, beautiful homes but over an hour for me to USF without traffic. We found a nice community call Fairways At Imperial Lakewoods of exit 229 in I-75 which would work for us. Has anyone heard of this community? Or does anyone have any suggestion of other locations? Many Thanks!

Hillsborough or Manatee County? Those aren't the best options! What about St. Petersburg? Now, while I'm not the biggest fan of St. Petersburg, they have nice some nice neighborhoods, and it's in the middle of both Tampa and Sarasota, the only thing is that you both would have to drive over a bridge to get to Tampa/Sarasota, if you don't mind bridges.

I don't really have a great opinion on Manatee County, but I can tell you Parrish is still a farm area, despite what people might say, and Ellenton isn't that big, not that bad. I still wouldn't live in either.

I would say St. Petersburg. That's the best I can suggest.

Good Luck!
