Default Surprises of Florida

No-one comes out of their homes. It seems the neighborhood is deserted.
Are they all in their Lanaii?.
No feeling of a neighborhood,it is such a transient place.
Stores are very quiet, been told,it is always this way becuase northeners go home in the Summer and so it is tough on shop owners, during this season.
All Mexicans do road/lawn work and manuel trades.Where are the Americans?
Little Jobs and those that are,pay very little.
Not a place to make money.
So many Northeners--if they didn't buy houses down here they would be so cheap because the Florida born couldn't afford them.
Land is being sold all over, for sale sign all over the place.
The state of Florida is in debt big time-cut backs all over.

I'm going to keep a positive attitude about it all. I guess it's like everything you only get out of something what you put into it.

It's also a bad year in general. Not many folks have extra cash right now. And that's all over America, not just Florida.

You just joined this forum, and you've entitled your thread "Surprises of Florida"... are you speaking from experience?

Again, all over the country, not just here.

Actually, the cut-backs are so that the State doesn't go into debt. Florida is a no-deficit-spend state, unlike the Federal Government.

I didn't know that! I think that is a good thing! Though, but a good thing. I don't believe in spending money that you don't have. It always costs you more. . . . It usually gets you in trouble, and obligated to others, and it takes a long time to over come.

I didn't know that either.

That explains what I heard on the radio that I couldn't figure out about these funds that Florida has set aside. I still haven't found a full explanation but this came up:

Economy to force state cuts, or tapping of reserves -- South Florida Sun-Sentinel.com

Much of the above applies to less than half of the State.

You need to get out more.
