It's good to see that other "northerners" are travelling south! Ohio's winters are just as bad as MA, I'm sure. And I'm ready to be out of the -9 temperatures!!
For those of you who live in FL already, do you miss the seasons at all? I love the fall, so I'm afraid I will miss it if we move down there. I just wonder what Christmas is like in "hot" weather.
My husband and I are planning a trip to Sarasota in April, and we are looking for some nice hotels. Can you recommend any that are in safe areas and have easy access to everything?

In Southern Florida, "fall" weather will come in January. If you choose a spot in Northern Florida, such as Jacksonville or Tallahassee, you will get abbreviated versions of both fall and winter, so you still get all four seasons.
It's definitely different though. You can have 30 degree temperatures and warm sun. I lived in Tallahassee for three years. I found that the "abbreviated" winters were perfect, because by about April I wanted it to be sunny and GREEN again, and it still was not (and tragedy of tragedy the palm tree and bird of paradise I planted in my yard to remind me of home DIED from the cold!)

Find one in Siesta Key! You will absolutely love that place! There are plenty of good ones in Sarasota. I'm not that familiar with the names yet buckeyegal.
I don't miss the seasons, but then I just made it down here last night! Love it - sunny warm and 71-72 degrees! Compared to 4 degrees yesterday.
April is like the perfect time to come down! And, it's not that far away. Although, it seemed like time stood still form December 15th, when I left until I got here last night. Today only lasted 10 minutes! Unreal!
