Default weather in winter

DH and I will be down there for Christmas time, and since we are new to the area(North Port) would like some info on how to dress when we are down there, we are from Connecticut so we get cold winters, and I used to visit my grandparents down ther and bring shorts and things of that sort, but the climate has changed.
we have a heated pool at our comlex and when we were down there they said many people swim in it at that time , but may be a little chilly when you get out.
should be interesting to see holiday decorations up on palm trees and such

The winter in SW Florida is our summer, and it gets really hot in their summer.
I'm in MD and my hot tub is out side. In the winter when I get out of it - well . . . that's chilly - at least Big Jim and the twins think so.

Christmas can be a little cool. If a cold front comes through we will see overnight temps in the 40's and daytime highs in the upper 60's and lower 70's.
Between fronts expect temps to be about 10 degrees warmer.

I've been offshore fishing in shorts and tee shirt one year and bundled up the next, you just never know.
Hope you have warmth for your stay, but bring a sweater and jacket just in case.

Default Thanks

I know what you mean, I sure will, I am bringing swim suit for the pool, I know its heated will bring a cover up for when I get out
I see your in Venice, my grandparents back in the day had a place in Gasparilla mobile home estates in Placida, it was great down there back in the 70's, the marina was right in back of them, now where the marina was are condo's built sky high, so no view, and the park is very old.
but anyway our park is nice , and looking forward to taking our doggies to the beach, there is a dog friendly beach in Venice correct?

grandmallie - You're correct there is a very nice dog park on the beach on the Island in Venice. It's just a bit down from Sharkys on Harbor Drive.

Placida did see a lot of construction over the past 5 years, but much of the charm is still there. Construction has almost ground to a halt so what we have now may be here for a while more.

Enjoy your time in our area, it is a fabulous time of the year. Come to downtown Venice and see our holiday decorations, I think the city does a great job.
