AMI is a great family-oriented little island. If your kids like sailing, boating, and being outside in the water, they will have a great time. If they are "big-city" kids, then they will probably hate it. You won't be taking many day trips to Tampa - you'll see, it's just a little too far away.

holmes beach
We just got back from Holmes Beach after a week vacation. He had a great time. Rented a house with a salt water pool. The beach was beautiful, get up early to find the shells. You'll love it. We ate lunch at the German Restaurant near the publix it was great. Small portion on the wierner Schnitzel. Saurbraten was great, and of course the beer. Good shopping at the Ellenton Outlets near 75, some very nice shops right in holmes beach and anna maria. Don't miss the White Egret. Mote Aquarium in Longboat is great too. Nice for riding bikes . Traffic is busy around 5:00pm, and on Sat. with people coming from all over to go to Holmes Beach. Relax have a Dairquiri and walk on the beach. Put away your computer and cell phone.
