If you buy a modem and have Comcast, you do not need a phone line. If you wish to use Verizon DSL you will need a landline ( a hardwired phone line as opposed to a cell phone). I do not know if you will use your cell here in the US. The modem is the same for both. I bought a Motorola SURFboard® Wireless Cable Modem Gateway (SBG900).
If you drift in and out of Sarasota, the pay as you go plan works great. But you have to buy your own modem. If you plan to stay in Sarasota, you can rent the modem for a few dollars each month. You cannot rent the modem and be on the pay as you go plan.
As for the TV, I can't offer any help.

thanks SD I intend to buy a modem (waiting for Big House to tell me what and where to get) then I will defintely use Comcast for the pay as you go internet.

You can get the modem at any Radio Shack, at any Best Buys, or Circuit City if they're still around by the time you get here.

For sport! I want to match up my wife with yours! That shopping trip would be cool! I bet the sales people could get them bidding against each other. I think they both have a lot of endurance! O.K., They are all over the place. I really haven't thought about it though because I've been busy working on a couple estimates. I lost internet access for about half the day, and I'm still catching up. But if you want to know what to get, I can help you out with that too.
