Ummmm Avacado's. I'm wondering if they'll grow in Englewood. I assume they will if coconuts will but if anybody knows for sure please do tell!

Mrtudo,..

Im sure there are several varieties which will grow nicely in your area..

The second link which i listed ( Pine Island nursery..) has an entire section devoted to Avacado cultivars which are best suited to Florida's climate..mostly of West Indian origin..cultivars like " Lula ", " Hall ", " Nadair ", and " Bernecker "

Most of the avos. we see in the produce markets here including " Haas",
" Stewart ", " Fuerte ", " Mexicola ", and " Zutano "are of Guatemalan or Mexican origin..and generally do better in drier areas like CA. ..though they can be grown successfully in Florida..Ive seen " Haas " and " pinkerton " listed on Pine Island's site..

West Indian types come from low humid areas in Mexico, or central America..where as the other two races come from drier, higher elevation areas..
