Hi,
My husband and I are looking to move into the area (Tampa, Lakeland, St. Petersburg, or Sarasota) and we know that we can't just buy a house. That would just be stupid with us having a steady income and our finances under control, so although we are frustrated by having to RENT... AGAIN...

I was wondering if anyone has good suggestions as to where to live. Our price range is between $400-$600. Our current rent in Morgantown, WV is $875. We are hoping that if we rent in a cheaper place for awhile, we could pay down the bills a little and save up some money. Does anyone have any suggestions?

You'll get your best annual rate after May 1st.

As far as your price; your rents going to be simliar down here....OMG, I remember living in a 1/1 on Wedgewood Drive and paying $400 back in 1987.

Are you looking for an apt. complex or a house?

Your best bet is to check the sarasota craigslist for pricing/pictures comparisons

Hey Renny,
Good luck finding something! You may find that the general cost of living down here may be a surprising help, even if you do pay about the same rent. You will find some things are not as expensive - especially the cost for heat!

Please reread my statement...$400 was back in 1987.

And, I've just looked at two apartments, one for $575 and one for $675. In Sarasota, one is two blocks from Main Street South, i.e. Burns Court and one in the RINGLING MUSEUM area a block from Sarasota Bay.

So, get your facts straight.

I would think West Virginia's cost of living would be lower than Sarasota. $875 per month for an apartment in Morgantown seems way too high, it must be a house?

Hey Lwaf,
Someone told me about where you live! I think that area is cool! I drove through there one time about a month ago, and you have a lot of nifty places to hang out! No wonder you know what's going on!
Today I'm back in MD, and it isn't bad up here today! I think the highs may be in the 50s somewhere. Friday I will be back down, and get to look forward to installing my floating dock! That will make it easy to step down from my fixed dock, get you lower to the water, so you can get in and out easier, and get in and out of kayaks easier too. I can't wait to start doing that!

I've been down in the Burn's Court area for the past two years. However, since everyone is cutting back on everything they can, I too, have decided to cut back....and I'm starting with my rent!

I found a great studio apt. in a home by Sarasota Memorial and will cut my rent in HALF!!!!

I'm a block from Hillview over there & all that's going on...I also was feeling the urge to change my view, been out on that front deck long enough!!!

With a floating dock, I take it you're on a canal here? Kayaking is the bomb!

There's a great club my friend's friends just opened, Mac's, on Hillview. My friend Noel and his bandmate Nate (A Local Celebrity Band) played last weekend on my birthday, lots of Dead for me...and they're off to Nashville to record this week...
