The closest beaches to North Port are Venice Beach, Manasota beach and Englewood beach.
Depending on where in North Port you would be located the drive time could be 15 to 25 minutes.
If beach is important to you then you might want to consider looking into the Venice or Englewood areas. South Venice is an area where you would find affordable homes and convenient beach access.
Englewood Isles is another area that you should look into.

I live in North Port. Right now NP has some of the best deals in Sarasota county. You'll get much more for your money in NP than you will in either Venice or Englewood. Englewood Beach is about 25 minutes. Boca Grande beach is about 35 minutes as well as Nokomis.

Good luck with your search!

Nokomis Beach is actually on Casey Key. The town of Nokomis is just north of Venice and south of Osprey/Sarasota.

Most/many people around here fly into Southwest Florida International Airport. It's located in Ft Myers, just south of North Port. It's exactly 1 hour from my home in North Port to SFIA. I think they have some pretty good rates coming in and out of there depending on where you're flying from. I think BigHouse flies from there and gets pretty good rates flying SouthWest.

I may be going 5-7 mph over the speed limit, but I get to Tampa Airport in 1 hour and 15 minutes from North Port every time.

Mikey2 are you one of the guys who tailgates me in the right lane, scaring the heck out of me, risking a crash at 70 mph? Are you one of those who weave in an out, risking other people's lives to save a few minutes?

Well, like you, I am from New England if that tells you anything

Actually, I never weave in and out or anything like that, but I keep close to 80mph all the way.

I think the secret down here is "how close do you live to I-75"? If it takes 15-20 minutes to get to the highway, then obviously you're going to need at least 11/2 hours each way.

I may have been just lucky to not get into any traffic on any of my trips to and from the airport.
