Cool Working in Sarasota, where to live?

Hi everyone,

I have been searching for awhile for the answers and I guess I just need to ask for myself!

I am coming to Sarasota to interview for a transfer with my job and wanted to check out some areas to live. And my thoughts and facts:

I am a 34 year old single girl. I want to live close to the water. I have dogs that I want to be able walk to a park. I will be renting and would like an apartment community so that I can meet people. I don't want to spend alot on rent since it would just be me. I will be working in Sarasota.

I was considering Venice because of the dog beach/parks. But how is the commute?

Can anyone recommend a place or an area that I may want to consider? I want to make some appointments to look at some apartments.

Thanks for your help!

Most apartment complexes allow dogs; private owners of houses, not so much.

However, with the economy as it is, that too may change...if you like the water, you might want to live downtown or on St. Armand's Circle/Lido or Siesta Key depending on location of your job.

Craigslist sarasota pretty much rocks here.

I know a few people who are renting townhomes in the University Park area.. Try Carolina Landings or Sabal bay rentals-- many of the people can't sell and will rent to dog owners. My cousin has a 95 ;b german shep.. Its a nice area near tons of shopping.. both are gated
