Sex on the beach is illegal no matter who you are. If you can't control yourself get a room. This beach is not sectioned off by the county for any one groups use. My taxes go to pay for the up keep and use of all Sarasota County beaches and I will go to which ever ones I like. I will not tolerate illegal sexual acts being performed on the public(key word public) beach and say nothing or do nothing. Let this be fair warning I will be watching and reporting to authorities whenever I see it from now on. Perverts will not prevail.

I'm not defending anything. I've said a public beach is no place for any kind of sexual activity. Whether you're gay or straight. Others are saying this has been going on for years now and is well known as I take it a more "open" beach? so people must be aware I think before going there. I'm not defending any lewd activity but if this is a known gay beach then I question why people who are easily offended would choose to hang out there? Were these 2 simply showing affection (PDA) or having outright sex? If it's just 2 same sex couples showing a little PDA like any other heterosexuals commonly do, then yes, I see no huge problem with it. If anyone is engaging in outright sex acts on a beach or in public then yes, I find that indecent and that should be stopped.

Just because it is not a new issue does not mean we should ignore it. I just want everyone who goes to any public beach here to be able to enjoy the view and not have to be concerned what part of the beach they are on.

I'm gay and even I don't wish to see such private acts displayed on a beach or anywhere public, out in the open. I wasn't condoning this in any way. A public beach should be for everyone to enjoy and not a place to conduct such intimate acts.

It was a BJ does that qualify as sex to you or a display of affection? And as to "everyone knows" its an open beach, well you have new people moving in the area every day and there is no such thing in Sarasota County as an open beach. All beaches here are open to the public no specialty beaches as of yet.I am not offended by gay people, I am appalled at the behavior of SOME people in a public place.

Well..... I DO remember the beach (East Coast of Florida) being a popular place for high school kids to "get it on" back when I went to school.......
I think the whole "cruising public places for sex" thing is an old vestige of that repressed gay closeted gay culture decades ago, when people had to sneak about. These days, there's no excuse. Probably a couple of married guys.

Well then yes, something like that should be reported. I think most people wish to hang out in respected areas and not have such places turn into something so seedy. Anything above simple PDA's is uncalled for by anyone no matter what your sexual preference is. I'm personally a very private person anyway so don't worry about me ever showing affection out in public, but if it were simple little PDA's by anyone man or woman, my eyes could handle that as I've seen a lot more in life than others apparently have on here, so it wouldn't be a big deal to me. But obviously this is more than just that.

What's riling people is your lack of clarity about why you're so disgusted. If you think it's gross because you think BJs are gross, you're a prude. If you think it's gross because it's two men, you're a bigot. Prudes and bigots are gross and offensive, so most people dismiss their opinions. If, on the other hand, you think it's gross because they're in public -- in which case you would also think it's gross if it were a hetero couple -- you'd find more people would agree that a beach is an inappropriate place for such a sexual encounter. So, is it the act, the participants, or the location that compels you to vomit?
