We just went down and took a look at Lakewood Ranch. It seems like a very nice community and all the liturature talks about how family friendly it is. However, I just went down and looked at houses in The Country Club area and it really didn't feel like a family neighborhood, I got the feeling it was populated with mainly retirees. Is that true, are different parts of the Club areas better for families than others? Everyone keeps saying Greenbrook is where the kids are, but I was not very impressed with that section. Thanks for any help!

Yeah, I would say the majority of kids in Lakewood would be in the Greenbrook and Summerfield neighborhoods. Here and there in the Country Club and not so much in The Lake Club. The other issue with Greenbrook and Summerfield is the Chinese drywall that has been found in some of the Taylor Morrison homes in both developments.

Is there a specific reason why you chose Lakewood Ranch? If you're not stuck on that area I would investigate Palmer Ranch which is in south Sarasota.

Here's a few happenings for kids in the Lakewood Ranch community:

The Kids Festival, benefiting Explore Some More Children’s Museum, will be held Saturday, May 16, at Greenbrook Village Adventure Park in Lakewood Ranch (between SR70 and Lorraine Road). The Festival is from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will include games, crafts, live entertainment, children’s activities, prizes and raffles for a full day of family fun. Food vendors will also be on-site.
