Well camera lens just needs to take a break once in a while, maybe a beer with the guys is just the trick. If I could help him, I would

I know you're not. Everyone deserves to get paid what they're worth providing. Still in some strange way, I'm envious of you too. You have some things that I don't... take care.

Hey ZZB,Do You mind if I do my whining on your thread. I'm just about at wits end with trying to sell my house too! We had several potential buyers the first month to 2 months and then nothing! Lowered the price 2 times already, offered to throw in all appliances plus all yard maintenance equipment (ie: lawn tractor with all attatchments, trim mower, wheelbarrow, extension ladder,etc.,etc.,etc.!You get the idea and still not even an offer of any kind, even after they tell us how much they just love the house after a tour. What the hell gives! By the way I am now officially into my first week of retirement, and we are ready to pack up and go at a moments notice. Somebody please say a prayer and wish us good luck, cause we're stuck in New York until the place is sold!

OK! - fingers crossed for you too! Darn - I just got them uncrossed for Hedzup3!
You are just entering the second phase of the process. People that are planning on buying are beginning to think that they need to get in before school, and again before the holidays. The two are somewhat, but no necessarily connected.
Retired! Man! Must be nice!
I'd move the yard equipment out of site and out of mind. People really don't value throw-in stuff like that - really. They will take all the free stuff you give 'em. If it is not worth the cost of loading and moving - give it to 'em, but otherwise put it someplace - cuz you will just need to buy that stuff when you move down.

Good Luck!

I agree. When I was about to list, I set some nice stuff at the end of the driveway for two days, anything that didn't get taken was tossed. Relly nice stuff was donated and really really nice stuff was given to family. Prior to all of this I got one of those huge rolloff dumpsters last year and just filled it. My wife doesn't want one thing going on that moving truck all the way to Florida if we really aren't going to use/need it. My house is so empty and she still thinks its full of crap.

Sometimes she goes for something and I start to panic Don't throw that! It's mine!!!! ...
she doesn't listen very well and she puts up quite a fight! But hey, sometimes I let her win . I've got my priorities straight

Default Stge. space in N. Sarasota

I am booking a storage locker locally to get all my stuff out of my house including things like my deep freeze (so it's not even a temptation for the new buyers). I've found a great deal here for like $36 for 5x10 space per month. It's not climate controlled but it's been a cool enough summer to not need it... plenty of room to declutter....
But I've started thinking about the transportation and unload in FL... When I get down there I may not have a house to deliver to because I've been advised by so many already to just rent and take my time...

What is storage going for in northern Sarasota and do any of you know of a decent place to recommend from your own experience?
Hi ZZB,

I'm a new poster here, and have enjoyed your writings. We also transplanted here from up north, about 3 years ago, and have never regretted it.

To answer your storage question, we've rented in 2 different facilities, one off of Fruitville Rd., and another off of Rt. 301 in Sarasota. Simply Self Stge. on 301, rents for approx. $70 per month, for a 5' x 10', climate-controlled unit. The Budget Self Stge. on Fruitville was a bit more expensive, which is why we moved our stuff to the one on 301. The area is not the 'nicest', but we never had a problem with security, etc.

I know how you feel with wanting to be here, and waiting for certain things to happen. It took us 20 years to finally get here, and now we're having trouble finding consistent employment. We're also of the mindset, that we'll bend in our 'occupational niche', rather than have to move away.

Many blessings to you and your family... and don't fret it, as you know, God is Faithful.

I have job hopped so much my whole life, I can certanly relate to your experience looking for a niche. I feel like sheetrock compound. I've tried so many different things and I'm still not doing what I went to college for. Maybe that will help me be a survivor down there. I wish you and yours all the best.

Smile Don't give up!

I'm sure you have days when you get somewhat despondent, but...for of patience ye have need, that the will of God having done, ye may receive the promise...

I really relate to your situation as I am in the process of setting up a structure in Florida so my kids can go to CUF and I can travel to my condo in Punta Gorda more often.

I noticed your steadfast faith, so hey, don't give up now.
