Finally bought a house
This is really just a quick note of thanks to all of you who post on here, and a word of encouragement to those who are still looking or just starting to look.
My wife and I started seriously searching for a second home in Sarasota around March after many vacation trips to Sarasota and Naples over the years. We made an offer on one house in Gulf Gate but couldn't find a meeting of the minds with the owner on price, branched out to Palmer Ranch, and found our perfect second home. Our offer on that one has been accepted
For now we'll take holidays and vacations in Sarasota but we hope to retire there one day. What a great place!

Congratulations! I hope you get to use it often, and not just holidays and vacations! We just had a bunch of friends down from Maryland and they had a wonderful trip! I was really happy to share our little bit of paradise with them, and share a little bit of everyone else's paradise too!

That's great! I think you'll be very happy with Palmer Ranch. Everyone I have sold a home to that lives in there loves it. What development in Palmer did you choose?

Congrats. We did the same thing last year. Bought in VW. We are headed back down at the end of June.
You will love the area. The Legacy Trail is great for riding a bike.

Congratulations! We just bought a place in Englewood in Oct. and could not be happier. It was a second home for Us also, but due to an unexpected early retirement offer, we may be moving down permanently by the end of this year! Good luck to you and maybe someday you'll make the move down permanently too!

Congratulations!! I am sure you will love keep going back to your vacation home. Everyone seems to like your area. We bought our vacation home in November last year and will be back in Venice at the end of the week. We are all so excited and can't wait. This will be the first time in Florida for our grown up children and they are really looking forward to it.

Janet,
Congratulations to you. You are going to find more an more reasons to come back for longer and longer periods of time, and so will your kids. I still call my grown up children my kids - I wonder how long I'll do that?

Way to go!!! We are renting in Stoneybrook in Palmer Ranch and just our nightly walks are worth the price of admission. Congrats and enjoy when you can!

Thanks for the congrats everyone! SoFlGal we bought in Wellington Chase. We didn't need all the amenities of some of the other developments (we're very good at generating our own entertainment) so saved on HOA fees, and got exactly the sort of place we were looking for with a pool and nice view. We're really excited to start using the house!
Now we just have to take care of some details-- pool person, landscaping person, etc. Anyone know of a company that will check a house a couple of times a month for an absent owner? Also, how do you keep junk mail from clogging your mailbox when you're not there to pick it up?
