Last night I was watching Law and Order and they tripped up one of the suspects based on the phrase "Merry Christmas". According to the show, in England they say "Happy Christmas". Is this true?

Either where we are.

Ourselves - it is usually Merry Chrismas and Happy New Year.

The stores normally start the Christmas songs & merchandise just after Hallowe'en
