If you are working in Sarasota, why did you not rent there? Don't get me wrong, Venice is really charming, but it is much smaller and skews much older than Sarasota, I think couples would be happier there especially if they are a bit older than you. It depends on the individual, but many your age would find it too "old" or boring, especially being single. I would have tried for Sarasota. I hope I'm not bringing you down, but you did ask, and this is my opinion. Even if you do end up signing, it's not that far to drive up to Sarasota and Venice really is a neat little town.

Venice is way too old.(I am in my thirties and lived there with my family and hated it)
