Considering Bradenton area
Hello
Our family has just returned from our 9th year visiting the Bradenton area for vacation. Every year we always discuss moving down there and have decided that we would like to achieve that dream We like the Bradenton/Sarasota/Tampa areas.
Our son,11, has high functioning autism, so we are trying to ensure that we find the best school district for him. Any suggestions?
Also, what are the limits for pets in the counties? Where we are currently at, you can only have 4. Was wondering what it is down there. Any assistance would be appreciated?
Thanks!

There are no restriction unless you live in a deed restricted community and many of them of restriction on the type, size and how many.
What park of Bradenton were you thinking? I'm sure Ladywithafan and Suncoast Guy can fill you in on the Bradenton scoop. I was born in Bradenton but it's changed a lot since then.
Personally, I prefer the school system in Sarasota county.

Thanks! We are looking at Sarasota too. We really like Sarasota, Tampa and parts of Bradenton. Just trying to find the area that will be the best fit for our needs. Do you know what the restrictions, if any, are in Sarasota on pets?
Thanks for your help!

There are no restrictions that I am aware of other than if you were to be in a deed restricted community. Then each community is different.
I would go with Sarasota if I were you. You might want to look into Pine View School for the Gifted if your child has high functioning autism. It is a full time gifted program for all of Sarasota county.

OK, here it is. Be very cautious when coming to Bradenton. Bradenton is a small city, but it is very crime ridden right now. We have had more homicides this year then all of last and we are only 6 months into the year. Now, I not saying that Bradenton is a total waste of a city, because it's not. There are a few (not many) areas that are nice, but they are very few and far between. Bradenton has a good parts and bad parts right next to each other. Basically, you could be in the best part of Bradenton, cross the street and your in a dump, so watch out for that. When choosing Bradenton, I would suggest looking into the West, Northwest, and Far East areas. In the West section, I would look at areas from 59th Street West to the beaches. Again, watch out for the dumpy areas that tend to come and go. In this area, crime hasn't gotten as bad as others, so just look around there. Northwest is a pretty good area, just choose wisely. And Far East, basically being right near I-75 and East of I-75. Don't go to any parts of the East as the East is generally the bad part of Bradenton. However, the "New East" is OK. The Main words for you to remember are: CHOOSE WISELY!!!
As far as the school district, Bradenton may not be the best place for you to be. The school system here is very screwed up. I would suggest Sarasota County for the school system.
Any thing else you want to know about Bradenton, just ask!!

Hi... we also have a son that has autism he is 8yr. we moved to the Bradenton last year and were extremely unhappy with the school system. Not sure what school system you are coming from. PLEASE Be aware that Bradenton schools are terrible for autism. We moved into sarasota county and have been happier with services but still have issues with them. We have given up with Florida schools and going up north for better services as soon as we can.
