After visiting the Sarasota Memorial Hospital website one comes away with a very good impression.
Anyone offer an opinion based on firsthand experiences? No particulars just whether or not treatment matched your expectations. Thanks.

Are you looking to work there or for treatment there? I think Sarasota is a pretty good hospital. Their cardiac unit is very good. My father had a heart transplant and his care originated there. My uncle works there and the technology seems first rate.

I work in nursing and have taken patients for appointments etc. to SMH. The staff are generally friendly and well trained. I and my partner have been patients also. He broke his upper arm Thursday so I have a fresh experience for comparison. I highly recommend SMH; a great community asset.

What a bummer! I hope you were able to get through the emergency room quickly. I always seem to sit there for hours - just not fun - Im not talking about SMH - fortunately I havent had cause to go to the hospital for a long time! I hope his recovery goes well.

Thankyou for the nice post and concern. We got through the initial ER triage process fairly fast but had to wait for the x-ray results...approximately 5 hours all together...not bad considering nursing staff never know what to expect next and this does cause delays. We still have to go to a specialist and find out the prognosis...the bone is broken only a few inches lower than the shoulder joint...OUCH! Thanx again.

I hope your father is well and progressing.

I'm coming from a patients perspective. I'm healthy as a horse, just thinking about what the ages may bring in my direction.
That said my better half is an RN by trade but the bedside care part of that business is behind her. Last ten years has been in case management/patient advocate/social field of healthcare. I know things are tough employment wise in area but if you believe there is future potential in that end of medicine feel free to opine.

The hospitals in Sarasota are some of the best hospitals I have seen. My cousin lives in Sarasota and has had to deal with both Sarasota Memorial and Doctors Hospital. Both hospitals are remarkable, and they both do whatever the can to ensure your safety and health.

I would disagree with this. I have also had very good experiences with Venice Hospital. Just had to take my little one into the emergency room about a month ago for strep throat. They gave her a coloring book with crayons and some cold ice cream. The doctor and nurse were both fantastic and we were in and out of there in a little over an hour. They made a difficult situation much better.

I called the Hospital the next day and spoke with the head of the emergency room and told him what a fantastic job they all did
