Thanks, Tommy! So, the construction field is that bad, huh? That sucks! What about the bigger commercial jobs? Right now I am laying tile in a hotel here in Indiana with a company that travels the US laying tile in hotels. It pays pretty good. I'm not getting money by the square foot which sucks and is different from how I have been paid in the past. I'm getting $18 an hour but the project only lasts for 2 months! After that is up then I'm out of work again! It really sucks here. With my wife losing her job due to downsizing in the accounting field and me only getting work sparingly, it only makes sense to sell our house, take the equity and start fresh somewhere we love, in Florida! We just got a comp report on the housing market in our neighborhood yesterday. The houses that have been on the market are selling for 100% of list price within 30 days. So, the equity we can get out of the house is about $30,000 and 3/12% of the realtor fees will go back into our pocket because father-in-law is a realtor! So, it looks like our best bet is to sell the house and move! I know the job market there isn't good from what everyone says, but it's not good here either and it is going to snow soon! The cold weather makes everything even worse. And from what we hear the winter months are going to start early and last for a while and it's going to be a harsh winter when it comes to the snow, ice and cold! So, any suggestions or comments would be great to help us get down there and start a new life would be great!

The medical field is always looking for help and as for Bartending...it's almost season so, if you can get a job in a good restaurant that has a great Happy Hour or evening gathering, you'd be all set. If there is anything I can do to assist you in any way please let me know. : )

Cool! So, the medical field is good? Even if he isn't an RN? He works as a surgical tech in surgery and preop/PACU in Ortho as a tech! He has done this for 5 years! CraftLadyKim, if you could give us some pointers on some businesses to look up that would be great! What are the local hospitals there so I can pull up the websites? All the help I can get would be great!

I would say that you might have a better chance finding a job in the medical field than other fields. Keep in mind though that the unemployment rate is at 11% in Sarasota county. So, make sure you have a job lined up before you move.
You also might want to check with the local hospitals-Sarasota Memorial, Drs Hospital, Lakewood Ranch Medical Center.

Lakewood Ranch Medical Center has an opening for a Surgical Tech. I can't link to the actual job.
