Meow back to y'all, ladies!
I tell ya, it's disheartening to know that many cougars have hefty requirements of their younger suitors...like they must own a boat, a BMW, have a fancy villa, etc.
When the younger women go after the older guys, it's usually the older fella that has to have the material acquisitions! Now the male is still being required to be the one with the assets!
I say, now, there's gotta be some lovely cougars who won't mind a penniless, warm-hearted guy like me who has a beautiful bod, looks great in a bikini, and has a pretty face! And he isn't looking for a lady with big, big bucks! C'mon, Sarasota, let's have some cougars who'll take quality over quantity.
Oh, please have your own waterfront condo, speedboat, and tickets for two to the islands!

I have a four bedroom foreclosure on Manasota Key on the bayside in that price range.
Almost any place you would choose would have golfing nearby, so that's not an issue. Downtown Sarasota is right off of Siesta Key and it has lots of eclectic shops, restaurants, arts, theaters, etc.
Also, I hear that's where the cougars hang out

Thank you so much for providing me some information. I am not familiar with Manasota Key. Is it close to Sarasota or Osprey? When we were in Sarasota we explored Siesta Key, and loved it. We really like Sarasota, Naples, and Osprey. I liked the small town feel of Osprey and felt pretty safe there when we visited some friends that have since moved. We haven't been down for quite some time. We am serious about moving to a warmer climate, and like the homes that have the split bedroom layout that are all one level and that have hard floors like ceramic tile. We would like the home to have two master bedroom areas with full baths accessable from each of the bedrooms. It makes it so much easier for us to clean. I am in a very good financial situation so I have room with my budget, although, I want to find a place where I can settle in for a long time.
Before we start looking more specifically at homes, I would like to know some more. I know the three areas are vastly different, and the last time I was down was before the hurricane hit, and before this financial crisis began strangling the country. I am looking for a safe area, where I can feel safe walking around day or night. I would appreciate it if someone can give me some updated information on each town, and someone that can help me compare the benefits and detriments of each town as well.

Manasota Key is below Osprey and Venice. There are only about 1500 residents of Manasota. There's not a lot going on on the island and that's how they like it-pretty sleepy. There's no real nightlife, you'd have to head to Sarasota for that.
I would suggest taking a trip down here and plan on spending a few days looking around and visiting the different areas. Some places worth checking out are Manasota Key, Casey Key (although I'm pretty sure there would not be any waterfront on Casey in your range), Siesta Key-which has a pretty cool downtown area and a world famous beach, possibly Venice. Venice has a very quaint downtown with a few shops and restaurants, again pretty laid back lifestyle. And lastly the downtown Sarasota area, which has the arts, eclectic shops and restaurants, etc. Again, I'm doubtful you'd find anything in your range in the downtown Sarasota on water because you'd have to be right on Sarasota Bay. That property is still running well over a million.
The hurricane hit south of the area we are discussing. It hit around the Punta Gorda/Port Charlotte area. That's not to say that this area is immune to hurricanes. I'm a native Floridian and have never left the state but that's not to say I wouldn't I a big one came our way. You just need to be prepared with supplies and watch the weather during the summer months.
As far as the crime stats, you can Google most of that info and I believe City-Data has them as well. I always say to go check out the neighborhoods at different times of the day and make sure the neighborhood feel right for you.
Good luck with it
