Wanting to make quality friends
My wife and are wanting to make some good quality friends.
Were young professionals with two kids (2 1/2 and 13)
We just want to find similar people, that are good in nature. That like to do family things.

JesseS,
Where are you from? What town/area do you live in now? Did you recently relocate?
What line of work are you in?
Do you like to fish, or drink, or drink and drink and fish, or what? ;-)
Do you golf, play tennis, what interests do you have?
We are planning a meet-up in Venice mid-month, maybe you guys could attend. We are trying to schedule it on the weekend of the 16th, so hold your schedule open. I'm going to post a thread later this week -so people can say if they can make it or not.

We’ve live in Sarasota now. We lived in Venice for 2 years and 4 years in Sarasota.
I’m a firefighter my wife’s a RN at a local hospital
We like to fish, not very good, but still enjoy it! We do drink! But not to get smashed, and puking.
Were very active. We like to do 5k runs, and other athletic events. Always at the YMCA. My wife’s more of a golfer than me, but I want to learn. She’s also into dancing, which again I’m learning! We enjoy boating, but just sold our boat due to it leaving us stranded 3 times in the water!
As far as that weekend, im off except on the 18th.
Thanks!

Cool! Since you lived in Venice, do you have any recommendations for the meet-up? We like a place where they have decent music, and some of us like to dance, while others of us like to keep their feet moving so I don't step on 'em. Just kidding.
So how do you like Sarasota?
Are you a native of Florida?
I live in Punta Gorda Isles - which I think is awesome!
I have a boat which I like to fish and cruise around on when I'm down.

We didnt care for Venice much. We bought a house on a bad street, in a not so great area, and didnt know until after we bought the house how bad it was.
The best place I can think of is Sharkys on Venice Island. Great food, and music.
My wife from Buffalo, Ny, and Im from Wyoming. Were still unsure about Sarasota. Its hard to find friends here honestly. We have friends up in Buffalo, and in Michigan were we have little vacation house. People here seem to be very reserved, not as out going as ourselves.
We really miss boating! there isnt much to do other than hit the beach and go boating!

That's neat! I lived in WNY, my brother went to the University of Buffalo Medical School, and I had a lot of friends that went to Duville (sp) for nursing school. She didn't by chance go there did she? My brothers still live in a small town in WNY.
I went to Denver to college, and used to go to Wyoming to visit friends that went to college there. I liked Laramie, and Cheyene. We have a lot of people that are on this forum from Michigan, so I'm sure they will chime in soon.
The meet-up should be fun. I think Sharkey's may be a good choice. We picked Venice because some of us are from Punta Gorda, North Port, Venice, and Sarasota, Rotunda, and other areas. Venice seems more centrally located. We've held one in Sarasota and one in PGI @ Fisherman's Village.

We love WNY. Boatings great, foods great, people are great, all around great place! If it didnt have a bad economy, and TONS of snow we would probably live there. Our house in Michigan is in Bear lake. Another great place! Its a must for us to be near the water!

That's true. We lived really close to Conesus Lake, I use to ride my bike there when I was growing up. I looked at buying a home on one of the finger lakes, but felt I would get much more use out of my boat down in Florida. The area (Rochester, NY) was once labled the friendliest place in America. I love the chicken wings, and beef-on-a-wick!
Your right the economy and cold was what caused me to want to get out of there. I loved the winter sports when I lived there - I could ski better than I could walk.
Today, I'm in RI with some friends. We are getting ready to head out for some Oysters. We had a lobster feast yesterday for dinner! Anyway - gotta run!
Oh, and welcome to the board! You will find some really nice helpful people here!

Which Bear Lake? There are several in MI. My wife and I are originally from the Grand Haven/Spring Lake area of West Michigan. We have a Bear Lake just north of us near Muskegon.

"The Village of Bear Lake Michigan is located in the northern half of Manistee County, approximately 15 mile north of Manistee and 45 miles south of Traverse City. Bear Lake is located just five miles from Lake Michigan shores." Snagged this from the Bear Lake website. It explains it best.
We just bought the house in July.
