We moved here from Keller TX just over a year ago and we love it. I know the Dallas area where your coming from and I think you'll be able to find something comparable here in the Bradenton area. Your taxes and insurance will be higher, and maybe a few less square feet, but beautiful. I would stick with the far west Bradenton area. We are lucky we live on Anna Maria Island, just over the incoastal from Bradenton. We can't afford to buy on the island, but we found a great rental deal. Of course, living in paradise you will have to make some sacrafics. We downsized a lot before moving and went from a 3 brm house to a 1 here in FL. If you love the beach, this is the place to be. Good luck

Helojafo,I have to agree with you!
Sometimes I wonder if the people here that put Bradenton down have lived anywhere else. Also no place is like it used to be. Don't live in the past, deal with it. |

Bradenton was just a little cow town that got put on the map due to the Bradenton/Sarasota airport. Anna Maria Island has been a well kept secret for years, but now that it's out of the bag, crime is rampant on an island that was the last safe place to let your children out doors to play. Bradenton's past is much better than it's future. Many of our best drug dealers now live in West Bradenton, go figure. |

You have Earl Moreland to thank for that.
You simply can't put anyone behind bars, they drop the charges while the ink is still wet. |

I'm telling you, no matter WHERE I look, people will tell me there's too much crime...and no jobs. What do you mean...no jobs? There's NO businesses in the town? Nothing's open? It's just a residential neighborhood? And crime? Is there anyplace that there is NO crime? People, crime is an unfortunate part of human nature. Man is a wolf to his fellow man. The crooks up in Washington, D.C., are proof enough of that. |

Your right, crime is everywhere. I've lived in several states and big cities...I'll take Bradenton anyday over any of them. The job situation is the bigger issue here. My husband got laid off within 9 months. Thankfully he is a good worker and already has a reputation for being timely and reliable so he's started his own business. When you first get here people will not trust that you are here for good. They are used to people coming and going very quickly, or being unreliable. Once you get your foot in the door you have to keep their trust. So good luck convincing an employer your the one.

LwAFan/I bet if you go back to those places you mentioned,NONE of them would be the same, unless of course time stood still some where.Really though,if you ask your Mother or Grand Mother the changes they have seen.Well,I bet they could fill you in.

For myself,I would like to have todays advances in technology etc. but wish we had fewer people on this planet. It would help a great deal to decrease sprawl and crime!
It will never happen,I know, just more and more of us,until we are a Concrete Jungle!!! |
